In collaboration with Eden Caterers, we have eliminated clear film wrap which is made from PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic and single-use. We wanted to find a sustainable alternative that would enable us to keep our catering fresh while also reducing the amount of single-use plastic we were sending to landfill. Our new clear film wrap is made up of PLA (Polylactic Acid) film, a natural polymer made of renewable resources such as corn starch or sugar cane. We are delighted that the manufacturer of the PET film rolls is making the rolls in PLA for the first time based on our request. We hope they will convert many other customers to its use very quickly. By using a PLA film alternative, we have been able to stop using up to 8,000 PET plastic wraps every year. The new wraps require 65% less energy to produce and emit 63% less greenhouse gases.
