Overview

This bitesize training is here to shed light on everything you wanted to know about SAGs but were too afraid to ask. The event has been designed to unfold based on the topics most important to you.

You will be asked in advance to submit questions or topics for discussion around SAGs – their role, remit, legislation (or lack of it) and powers (or lack of them). The session will be delivered by event safety experts, Gentian Events, who will answer your questions live and follow up separately on any specific / sensitive questions in your area.

There will be a focus on Event SAGs but with significant overlaps with Sports SAGs in most aspects.

Objectives

Build on your knowledge and/or experience of working in SAGs. This session will bring you up to speed with SAG procedures and new areas that SAGs might be expected to cover:

  • Legislation
  • Zone Ex
  • C3
  • Understanding crowd safety
  • Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill

Who should attend?

Please note, this event is intended as a refresher for those with at least some experience on SAGs:

  • Local authority SAG personnel
  • Police, fire, ambulance or other service
  • Event organisers
  • Those who attend SAGs representing the event aspects of the SAG role (e.g. safety officers / security stewarding)

CPD: 2 hours
