CIEH members are being asked to cast their votes to decide which candidate they want voicing their views and opinions on the Assembly of Representatives from January 2016 onwards.

All the nominations have been received and the ballots are now open for members to elect representatives for the following seats:

  • Northern Ireland Region
  • South East Region
  • East of England Region
  • Education & Research Special Interest Group (SIG)
  • Student

Elected candidates sit for three years on the Assembly of Representatives (Assembly) and every year a third of the seats on the Assembly are vacated. This year sees the Northern Ireland, South East and East of England regions take their turn for re-election.

Shorter-term vacancies are also being made available in this ballot for the Education and Research SIG (1-year term) and Student (3-year term) seats.

All CIEH members of the above groups are allowed to participate in the election and members have until 12pm on Wednesday 7 October 2015 to cast their vote through MyCIEH before the ballots closes. The winners will then be announced after Wednesday 14 October.

The Assembly is a professionally focused forum, which influences and engages with the CIEH’s governing boards and committees, acts as an adviser to the Board of Trustees and is an ambassadorial body for CIEH members.

32 representatives sit on the Assembly and they are elected by the CIEH’s members from the regions, SIGS and the student community. The Assembly provides these groups to bring forward topics and professional issues that they consider to be important for further consideration.

In addition to its important debating and influencing role, the Assembly also oversees and approves all the appointments to CIEH’s Governance Structure, including the Board of Trustees, Risk and Audit Committee, Professional Standards and Policy Committee and the Qualifications Standards Committee.

Furthermore, being a representative presents a whole host of benefits, from professional development to directly influencing the direction of the CIEH and your profession.
